Emeritus Professor Coventry University & University of Reading
Speaker brought by Raiffeisen Bank
Kevin Warwick is Emeritus Professor at Reading and Coventry Universities. Prior to that he was Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research) at Coventry University, England.
His main research areas are artificial intelligence, biomedical systems, robotics and cyborgs. Due to his research as a self-experimenter he is frequently referred to as the world’s first Cyborg. Kevin was born in Coventry, UK and left school to join British Telecom. He took his first degree at Aston University, followed by a PhD and research post at Imperial College London. He held positions at Oxford, Newcastle, Warwick and Reading Universities before joining Coventry.
Kevin is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the IET who has published over 600 research papers. His experiments into implant technology led to him being featured as the cover story on the US magazine, ‘Wired’. He achieved the world’s first direct electronic communication between two human nervous systems, the basis for thought communication. Another project extended human sensory input to include ultrasonics. He also linked his nervous system with the internet in order to control a robot hand directly from his neural signals, across the Atlantic Ocean.
He has been awarded higher doctorates (DSc) by Imperial College and the Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague. He has also been awarded 9 Honorary Doctorates. He received The IEE Senior Achievement Medal, the IET Mountbatten Medal and the Ellison-Cliffe Medal from the Royal Society of Medicine. In 2000 Kevin presented the Royal Institution Christmas Lectures and in 2017 he presented the Paul B. Baltes Lecture at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities.
Our future will be part human, part technology.
The presenter’s own experiments will be used to show how implant and electrode technology can be employed to create such cyborgs and to realise biological brains for robots. We can both enable human enhancement and diminish the effects of neural illnesses. In all cases the end result is to increase the abilities of the recipients.
An indication is given of a number of areas in which such technology has already had a profound effect, a key element being the need for a clear interface linking a biological brain directly with computer technology. We will see how, with this technology, your brain can be in one place and your body can be wherever the network allows.
By linking your brain with AI so many new abilities can be realised – new senses, new means of control and new ways to communicate.

The Rocket Marketing
Hicham is an ex-Facebook employee and founder of therocketmarketing.com, a Berlin-based digital advertising agency that is focused on helping businesses grow through Facebook and Instagram advertising.
Prior to that he spent 7 years at Facebook’s EMEA HQ in Dublin (when he left he has been there longer than 98% of employees, globally). He worked in the Sales team where he managed and grew a portfolio of clients spending 8-digit yearly advertising budgets.
Hicham is now obsessed with making sure his clients get the best return on investment from their Facebook and Instagram advertising. The Rocket Marketing is focused on building tailor made ad strategies, auditing campaigns and managing ad spend by implementing solutions that scale and convert for the relevant verticals.
Digital advertising is the modern democratisation of marketing.
You don’t need to spend millions in ad spend and hope to get results. You don’t need to target the whole country and hope some of them will be your clients. Facebook and Instagram performance advertising might seem complicated at first with all the technical jargon and perceived long learning curve.
Imagine if you knew the fundamental basics for every successful Facebook and Instagram performance campaign. In this session, we will go through a three-step process that is used by all the advertisers and businesses that are effectively growing their business. Spoiler alert: it is not all about maximising the number of likes and comments.
All you need is a structured strategy that is focused on maximising your ROI and we will go through that in the session.

Head of Ericsson Research Consumer & Industry Lab
Ericsson
Dr. Pernilla Jonsson is Head of Ericsson Consumer & Industry Lab, delivering world class industry-, market- and consumer insights and produces bold opinions on where market is headed. Through close collaboration with customers and strategic partners, Consumer & Industry Lab uses insight to capture business opportunities and take on the challenges created by ICT in society.
Pernilla has worked with innovation, business development and brand & market strategy for multinational companies for over 10 years. She joined Ericsson in 2015 from management consulting where she led projects for strategy development, thought leadership, innovation and branding for multinational companies like IKEA, Unilever, Husqvarna and more.
Pernilla is an appreciated speaker and thought leader on the state of ICT in our lives. In 2015 she launched a book on the digitalization of the purchasing process, which earned the honorary prize as Sweden’s “Marketing Book of the Year 2016.”
Imagine you have just arrived home from work. You wave your hand, and the lamp turns on, flashing the light in greeting. The home speaker begins to play music, but when you give it an exasperated look, it turns off. You make a coffee, but grimace because it’s too bitter. The coffee machine immediately offers to add sugar or milk.
Two things are conspicuously absent from this vision of a not-too-distant future. One is an appliance with switches and knobs, and the other is a smartphone full of remote control apps. Our research indicates that consumers are increasingly moving towards a paradigmatic shift in how they expect to interact with technology. Ever more things are becoming connected, but the complexities of how to control them all are a different matter. We therefore need technology to begin to operate on more human terms as we move from the smartphone era to a multidevice era. For this reason, our trends for 2018 and beyond focus on various aspects of more direct interaction between consumers and technology.
With 5G, connectivity is set to become ubiquitous. This might sound simple, but it involves a huge technology upgrade; devices must be able to relay complex human interaction data to cloud-based processing, and respond intuitively within milliseconds. The Internet of Things (IoT) must provide interoperability between all devices, and allow for mobility. Network availability also needs to be maintained, so that devices do not suddenly go offline and lose their human-like capabilities.

Axel’s philosophy is: digitization should be accessible for all and suitable for everyday use. The foundation stone for this he laid with his own virtual reality software “eVRsync” enabling a scalable VR Sync cinema.
How can we treat virtual and digital worlds as a natural part of our reality?
We’ll discuss how the 5 key factors of successful products can be adapted to VR. In science and research, in healthcare, for education and training programs: Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality are advancing in high technology sectors. But they also ease our everyday life. They entertain us, facilitate decision-making, because they give us a greater understanding of connections and empathy for what it feels like to be in a special situation. There are five key factors for the success of mass-market products, which are applicable even to digital technologies like VR. Using examples from education, human resources and entertainment, Axel Steinkuhle shows how the key factors of mass-market productions are applicable to VR and AR technologies.
Ultimately, these adaptations will be used to bring people together in real life.

AKQA
Executive Director, Experience Design (Europe)
David Vogel is AKQA’s Executive Director, Experience Design (Europe).
He has 15+ years of experience in e-commerce, campaigns, digital product and service design for international brands. David has been at AKQA for 5 of those years, creating delightful products and experiences that add value for consumers. He has a strong focus on innovation processes and regularly runs rapid prototyping ‘hackathons’ for global clients such as Philips, KLM and MINI. In his spare time he loves to cook which, at the end of the day, makes people happy in the most straightforward way imaginable.
Every large brand in the world understands by now how crucial UX design is. Over 75% of the biggest companies identify customer experience as their top priority. By building a great app you are literally within arms’ reach of your customer, and by optimising your omnichannel strategy you can follow them through a sophisticated data trail to give them an increasingly personalised offer.
But do we still have our priorities straight? As we become better at tracking the consumer through data, the EU makes it ever harder to do so without explicit consent. And the more apps there are in the app store, the fewer of them consumers actually use on a daily basis. While social media places an ever bigger demand on users’ attention, we are gradually realising how detrimental this turns out to be for our health and wellbeing. So does the future of experience design lie in more apps, more personalisation and more data capture? Or is it time for a radical rethink? At AKQA we ‘invent the future with our clients’.
So how does David Vogel, AKQA’s European Experience Design Director look at the future of Experience Design? In his talk we will discover how new technologies combined with new business strategy tools turn UX/CX into an increasingly strategic discipline that can help increase the authenticity, social inclusivity and relevance of digital products and ecosystems to improve society.

While he is working across sectors, his main focus is on consumer products in the widest sense, covering everything from food to sports cars. In addition to his client work, he is also managing McKinsey’s growth strategy/marketing consulting service line on a global level. He is particularly passionate about creating new approaches for the Firm and its clients, especially in the area of leveraging deep consumer/market/competitor insights for growth.
How consumers make purchase decisions has radically changed in the past years, especially due to the rise of digital technologies. At McKinsey we saw the growing need to better understand shifting consumer behavior nearly ten years ago, when we proposed a new approach called the consumer decision journey. It was a significant change in thinking that challenged the long-held concept of the linear sales funnel going from awareness to loyalty.
The journey, instead, reflects a more complex reality of shifting choices, decision criteria, and triggers. After having analysed a six-digit number of consumer decision journeys in numerous product categories around the world, this speech will focus on the questions of:
•What is the consumer decision journey?
•What are key learnings across sectors?
• What does this mean for us as marketers?

He frequently writes for publications such as CSO Online and IBM’s Security Intelligence blog.
The biggest danger posed by bots and botnets comes from the fact that they’re so ubiquitous. Businesses rely on search engine bots to index their sites so customers can find them. Communication between organizations is increasingly happening through APIs, with terabytes of data being exchanged every minute, no human interaction required. Site monitoring bots allow administrators to keep ahead of surges in traffic and other problems. Quite frankly, much of the current Internet relies on the information bots gather and exchange every day.
But for every benign use of a bot, there exists a darker, malign example. The spiders that index your site are great, except when the data is being used by a competitor for their own pricing. The same APIs that allow for data exchange represent a huge area of vulnerability to credential stuffing botnets. Credential abuse bots are constantly trying to use compromised logins to take over accounts from sites across the globe. And nearly any botnet can generate enough traffic to create a DDoS given the right circumstances, like a botherder who doesn’t know how to configure their own tools.
Join Martin McKeay for a global look at where botnet traffic is coming from and where it’s targeting. We’ll be looking at a year’s worth of research on some of the tools botnets are using to remain stealth, who’s being targeted and where the traffic is heaviest. This talk will examine how botnets are increasingly using Domain Generation Algorithms (DGA) to hide botnet Command and Control (C&C) infrastructures. The threat botnets pose is something all businesses should be concerned with, but retailers should be especially concerned with these often unrecognized attacks.

Head of Information Security
Bank of Ireland
A business-focused cyber security leader, Flavius has held senior security positions both within the public and the private sector and has lead a number of enterprise-wide security transformation programmes, in complex global organisations. Passionate about solving real industry problems, cultivating and building teams to deliver on the organisation’s mission, values and goals.
Alongside his role as a Head of Information Security at Bank of Ireland UK, Flavius is also one of the co-founders of OutThink, a team of CISOs and security practitioners who are changing the way in which organisations engage with their employees to shape behaviours and build a risk-aware cyber security culture.
With Human Errors being the #1 cause of cyber incidents and data breaches, it is now a CISO imperative to tackle behavioural change and focus on building a risk aware cyber security culture. There are multiple drivers behind the rise of behavioural and cultural change as a recognised need within organisations. It reflects the acceptance that how well an organisation performs is dependent on the shared beliefs, values and actions of its employees, and that this includes their attitudes towards cyber security. There is the recognition that traditional awareness raising campaigns (e.g. CBT, phishing simulations) are not, in themselves, affording sufficient protection against ever evolving cyber-attacks.

Hackers do not have a scope nor are interested in risk ratings. On the other hand, nobody wants to be hacked, but it could happen if our risk assessment was not properly done. It is necessary to understand how vulnerabilities are rated, what their meaning is and how could these bugs be exploited. A demo will show how three or more seemingly independent vulnerabilities can be chained together in order to have a bigger impact on a company or on an end-user.
Takeaways:
• The demo will bring the audience closer to understand how hacking works
• Will explain how it is possible to chain vulnerabilities
• Will change some minds how risk rating should be handled internally in a company
Principal Software Architect
QAware GmbH
Mario-Leander Reimer is a chief technologist for QAware GmbH.
He is a senior Java developer with several years of experience in designing complex and large-scale distributed system architectures. Cloud native applications are popular these days. They promise superior reliability and almost arbitrary scalability. They follow three key principles: they are built and composed as microservices. They are packaged and distributed in containers. The containers are executed dynamically in the cloud. But all this comes at a price: added complexity! Suddenly you need to consider important cloud native design principles such as service exposition, configuration, resilience, health checks, metrics, monitoring and tracing.
This session is a comprehensive hands-on guide showing how to develop state-of-the-art cloud native applications with Java EE 8 and MicroProfile APIs. We will start by giving a brief overview of the latest API additions and improvements. Then we will implement, build, package and deploy our first working microservice.
Next, we will dive into the details of implementing enterprise-ready microservices and cover topics such as synchronous and asynchronous service exposition via JAX-RS and JMS, data binding and content marshalling using the JSON-B 1.0 and JSON-P 1.1 APIs, handling state and persistence in a cloud native context, and addressing configuration, resiliency and diagnosability using MicroProfile APIs.
Takeaways
•Basic knowledge of how to design and build cloud native applications using Java EE 8
•Basic knowledge of how to deploy and run Java EE 8 microservices using Docker and Kubernetes
• Hands on experience with the latest APIs and cloud native technologies

Partner
Wolf Theiss
Maria Maxim is a Partner with Wolf Theiss and the coordinator of the TMT (Technology, Media, Telecom) and Data protection practice in Romania.
During her legal career of nearly 20 years, Maria has implemented numerous data privacy (EU GDPR), anti-trust and compliance programs for major companies and has conducted a number of trainings programmes in her areas of expertise.
She has extensive knowledge of the telecom industry, as prior to joining Wolf Theiss Maria was for 18 years in-house legal counsel of a major telecom company in Romania where she coordinated the litigation, data protection, compliance and Anti – Money Laundering activities. Her impressive experience includes also the position of senior manager, FIDS inside one of the “Big Four” accounting firms in Romania.
Although a major step forward and a continuing improvement process for most of the companies, digitalization brings with it a series of challenges as well as compliance requirements under the General Data Protection Regulation – GDPR.
Most of the companies have made all efforts to put in place new policies, procedures and IT solutions in order to implement the General Data Protection Regulation – GDPR by 25th of May, the date of its application in all European member states, including Romania. However, 25th of May is not an end date, as GDPR is an ongoing process. For most of the companies the challenging part is yet to come and they must ensure that their processes work in practice, otherwise to constantly adapt them. One of the main tools provided by GDPR is the “privacy impact assessment” or “PIA” that needs to be performed in certain cases, especially when the entities decide to implement new technology that involves processing of personal data.
Your organisation can only be compliant if you first prevent security and data protection incidents, and consider from the beginning the GDPR requirements and principles, provided under the umbrella of data protection by design and by default concept. Attend this session to learn how The Data Privacy Impact Assessment can be of help!

ISECOM
Pete Herzog is the shining example of a hacker trying to fix the world.
He built a career out of taking apart the security world piece by piece to figure out how it works. You can find articles and projects from him all over the place, especially at the non-profit research organization, The Institute for Security and Open Methodologies (ISECOM), he co-founded in 2001 to help make this happen. There you’ll find his work with the Open Source Security Testing Methodology Manual (OSSTMM), Hacker Highschool, and the Cybersecurity Playbook as well as work in trust metrics, authentication, social engineering, vulnerabilities, risk analysis, and so much more. Pete also teaches training classes, coaches corporations, develops security products, advises start-ups, and hacks things.
As a security analyst I’ve seen a lot of things. Internet things. Most are some cluster of apps, sensors, mobile devices, web, and cloud. All involve people, both trusted and mostly untrusted. Then they ask me how to secure it. And I do. This is how.
I need less than an hour to show you how to make security that matters for new technologies. This includes how to analyze the security of anything even if you’ve never seen it before or have no idea how it works. This is how to approach it, scope it, analyze it, and ultimately secure it. We don’t need less IoT but better security professionals willing to use their analysis skills to make sure security happens.

Cryptographer
NXP Semiconductors
Joppe is a cryptographic researcher in the business unit identification at NXP Semiconductors. Previously, he was a post-doctoral researcher in the Cryptography Research Group at Microsoft Research, Redmond, USA.
His research focuses on computational number theory and high-performance arithmetic as used in public-key cryptography. On the one hand, he has an interest in the various mathematical problems used in applied cryptography. Examples include the integer factorization problem and the (elliptic curve) discrete logarithm problem. On the other hand Joppe likes to investigate the different techniques to realize efficient cryptographic implementations on various exotic or embedded architectures.
The applications of machine learning seem to be endless.
In the Internet of Things era this has the capability to transform how we interact with machines. Examples include autonomous driving, ordering products with simple voice commands and authentication using your face. However, when the machine learning and internet of things combination grows mature so do the attacks against machine learning systems: an attacker can try to steal the machine learning models, circumvent the authentication mechanisms or do physical harm to the user. In this presentation I will show that it is trivial to mount attacks against machine learning models.
Finally, we will outline the consequences and present some of the techniques which can harden against such attacks. With the deployment of machine learning into our everyday life we need to be aware of the security and privacy implications and start to apply the security-by-design paradigm to make these smart machines more robust against practical attacks.

APT attacks have traditionally been associated with nation-state players. But in the last few years, APT actors have devolved from “fine dining to fast food”. Techniques and tools that were once characterized by a few APT actors have been adopted by dozens of other threat actors, including freelance groups hired by government agencies and organized criminals who are using complex hacking operations to gain access and collect valuable information/intelligence, steal intellectual property, pilfer sensitive financial data and even siphon cash in attacks aimed at banks. The main reason behind this development is the commoditization of advanced toolsets. The Shadow Brokers and Vault 7 leaks, for example, included the source code for high-end tools allegedly developed by the NSA and the CIA, respectively, making them readily available to anyone.
Even if you do patch all your software, the way Equifax didn’t, or you randomize all your passwords, the way most of us don’t, bad actors are going to get past your heavily guarded gate, into your network. And once they do, they’re free to go wild.
To battle the constantly growing and ever-changing scope of threats from APT hackers, AI and machine learning are becoming vital innovations that can hold the key to combating cybercrime.

Among the initiatives he contributed in starting and developing, is the Cluj IT Cluster ecosystem that managed to shift, in 6 years, the focus of the IT community from outsourcing services to more innovative products and services delivery. Another initiative is the Royal School in Transylvania, a community initiated, developed and driven school, aiming at developing an alternative to public and private education in Romania.
Smart Buildings, Green Energy, the Carbon Footprint are rather frequent topics nowadays and there are still advantages and disadvantages to be taken into consideration when deciding to invest in the acquisition of technological solution with impact in these areas.
But many potential users still don’t understand what it is about, how this can help them tomorrow, make their life easier, safer, and why should they learn about it.
In this context, building an Energetic Efficiency Platform for Smart Buildings is a big challenge, not necessarily from a technological point of view, but from the social and economical points of view.

CTO, Air Traffic Controller
SimSoft
Cosmin is a senior Air Traffic Controller and trainer with ROMATSA (Romanian Air Navigation Service Provider) for the last 18 years. Among his passions, software development takes most of his time. He is self taught in software programming.
In early 2000, during his education with the Aviation Academy, he identified the need for a training infrastructure as being mandatory for effective ATC training. Using his passion and paper based curricula, he developed the first RADAR and 3D Tower simulator in Romania. Today, all ROMATSA training is performed on his simulators, that are being developed by his company Simsoft. He is actively involved, as Chief Technology and Product Officer, in further developing the initial simulator and the new major update of the ATC simulation platform that would change the ATC training by using AR, mobility and AI.
As an Air Traffic Controller you must always be prepared for every situation that may come, to react as fast as you can, to work under pressure, with high stakes at hand, knowing that every mistake you make can result in considerable loss.
Our intention is to make training for this as accessible and accurate as it can be, this is why we are building a professional simulator for remote learning dedicated to air traffic controllers, using mobile and Cloud technologies.
While being a rather rigid domain, very strict about its regulations, it can be very welcoming to new technologies. They can have a major impact in the efficiency of the training for increasing the levels of personnel performance.
We believe that remote learning and simulation environments are a good solution for what air traffic controllers need in order to become better professionals.

As soon as the online order has been placed, customers ask:
“When do I receive my order?”
It’s a trivial question, but it has become one which the merchants no longer want to deal with.
The unanimous solution now offered by online stores is “door-to-door” delivery and has a success rate of 80 – 96% daily, not to mention Black Friday or other peak times.
All the important merchants have started to acquire shipping companies to have inhouse delivery solutions to best cover the volume of the online growth.
What are YOU doing? Are you ready for the next step?
In this presentation, I will show you the benefits of the Click&Collect system – a DIY (Do It Yourself) service – which offers your customers the alternative of an 100% digital online payment and smart lockers (pachetomat) delivery. Let me show you how their days, when the courier announces that he will arrive with the order anytime from 9-17, can be “freed”.

So many questions still unanswered regarding traffic management, so many solutions already out there on the market. We attempt to identify a different approach to old or known problems.
What we aim to do is to build an integrated system, which incorporates smart resolutions for traffic assessments and traffic forecasts; enables efficient processing procedures for speed fines, fines for gauge, illegal parking; provides real time transmission of incident alerts towards operational centers, devices and responsible users, but also estimated travel times for public transportation vehicles.

What do you do when your clients ask you to recommend a messaging app that is highly secure and deals with privacy issues in a professional manner? Moreover, the clients want to avoid any intermediary in order to minimize any unwanted exposure.
Consumer messaging apps don’t fit the bill. There is a whole list of incidents and breaches that makes the clients reluctant to use them for sensitive data transfer.
Open source solutions may sound like an option. However, many clients do not have the expertise to install, test and manage them appropriately.
Although counter-intuitive in the beginning, we were left with the only logical conclusion: build an app that deals 100% with the customer challenges, including seamless integration with existing enterprise apps.

Data Scientist
Bigstep
Andras holds an Economics and Data Science degree from the University of Southampton. He has spent almost two years in a traditional Data Analyst role, before progressing to a Data Scientist position at an investment fund. Although he is still very interested and passionate about finance, Andras’ focus has now shifted towards helping companies make sense of their data through his position as a Data Scientist at Bigstep. In his spare time, Andras finds himself jumping around different hobbies. Right now, he’s learning about Generative Art.
The world’s most valuable resource is no longer oil, but data. As a result, the skills to convert data into insights that generate revenues are high in demand. Unfortunately, one of the biggest hurdles companies face when trying to capitalize on their data sets is a lack in the supply of Data Scientists and Machine Learning practitioners. These are professions which require a wide array of specialized skills ranging from statistics, probability, and linear algebra to computer science.
As markets struggle to supply the necessary talent, a few companies are working on new paradigm: automated data science. The gist of the concept is that many or all aspects of data science and analytics can be automated. Algorithm selection, for example, no longer requires that one understands the difference between logistic regression and random forest, a machine can simply figure out which type of algorithm fits the data best. The rise in automation has even led to the development of a new type of data professional: “the citizen data scientist”. An employee who can perform analytic tasks that would previously have required the expertise of a highly skilled data scientist.
This session will cover some key questions regarding automated data science: which parts of data science benefit the most of automation, can all of data science be automated, and will there be a place for data scientists in the future as well as how companies can benefit the most from automation.

In the past, cookies have never had a place within the “personal data ecosystem”, yet nowadays they have become indispensable for any marketing campaign. Given their technical nature and the theoretical impossibility to identify the natural persons behind such cookies, their legal nature remained unclear. Now, GDPR has clearly classified cookies as personal data, but with the adoption of the ePrivacy Regulation – expected to have potentially greater impact than GDPR – still pending, it is yet uncertain to many actors in the digital marketing industry how such atypical categories of personal data should be treated.
We will shed light on the concept and the legal nature of cookies from a data protection perspective, by analyzing the main challenges which advertisers are faced with when it comes to GDPR/ePrivacy compliance, as well as how such obstacles could be overcome.

The great digital advancement we are experiencing led to the emergence of a considerable number of new types of digital goods and services on the digital market, which may vary significantly from specific downloadable content (such as apps, music and books) to cloud services and applications (e.g. SaaS platforms). Given the novelty and complexity of such new digital products, it is not always easy to distinguish between “digital goods” and “services”. The stakes of such distinction reside in the right to withdrawal, specifically whether consumers may change their minds with such a purchase and get a full refund.
We will address the consequences that such classification will have on businesses and how a balance can be struck between the rights of professionals and the rights of consumers in relation to the sale of digital goods and services.

Hey, Be Well!
Andra is a strong believer that technology is meant to make people’s life healthier and happier. By Co-founding Hey, Be Well! she is dedicating her time and resources to building a product that can leverage tech for the benefit of millions of people that want to accomplish their wellbeing goals, but lack professional support and know-how.
There is, currently, a gap between the potential that technology has to improve our health and happiness and the actual manifestation of the potential. I believe the future of our wellbeing will be led by technology, but not as we are using right now. We have all the tools, we just need a different approach.
Health apps have a lot to learn from social media, shopping apps and games. The secret lies more in behavior psychology and game theory than in applying the right science or accurate tracking. We’re designing health apps from the premise that users don’t need to be persuaded or charmed, because they are inherently driven by their need to be healthy. In fact, the opposite is true more than not. Most of us will only invest in our health when we are not feeling well, and forget all about it as soon as we get better. So how can technology help us overcome our comfortable nature?
Mobile Specialist, Central Europe
Lars Bognar is a Mobile Specialist at Google and consults customers and partners in Central Europe on their mobile asset strategy, their mobile performance in terms of sitespeed and UX, and on the integration of web and apps in their businesses.

In 2015, mobile searches have surpassed desktop searches for the first time. Today, the majority of online businesses get most of their traffic from mobile devices. But they struggle as they are trying to catch up with their growingly impatient mobile consumers. With a fast changing technological environment and a growing number of solutions, fixing crucial elements in the user experience seemed never easier, but yet difficult to prioritize.
In this session, we will equip website owners and marketers with the latest best practices in mobile performance, mobile speed and mobile UX. We will also look at fast, engaging web experiences and technologies like Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP), Progressive Web Apps (PWA) and web APIs that solve currently broken elements in the user flow.
Takeaways:
o Improving your mobile web performance in terms of speed and UX means growing your online business:
o Mobile UX matters: 79% of shoppers who have trouble with a mobile site don’t return

o Pull a Lighthouse report in order to understand the pockets of opportunity for your website and prioritize where to start
o Take advantage of disruptive web technologies like AMP, PWA and webAPI’s

Class Data Sharing (CDS) helps to improve startup performance and reduce memory footprint by storing preprocessed class metadata on disk and sharing it between VM instances. You’ll learn how to use it, how it works, which improvements you can expect and what the future plans for CDS look like.
Description (links are in Markdown format):
Class Data Sharing (CDS) is a feature introduced in Java 5 to improve startup performance and reduce the memory footprint of Java by storing the preprocessed class metadata of system classes on disk and sharing it between virtual machines. During the last years, CDS has been constantly improved. In OpenJDK 10, CDS has been extended by AppCDS which additionally allows sharing of application classes between VM instances (see [JEP 310: “Application Class-Data Sharing”](http://openjdk.java.net/jeps/310 )
In this talk I will briefly introduce CDS and AppCDS and demonstrate how it can be used. While CDS is well documented, the usage of AppCDS with application classes and custom class loaders still requires a lot of hand crafting so I’ll introduce a small tool which helps automating these tasks. After presenting some memory consumption and performance numbers, I will do a short deep-dive into the implementation details and describe some of the challenges. I will also show how [Strings and Symbols can be stored in the CDS archive](http://openjdk.java.net/jeps/250 ) and shared across VM instances since OpenJDK 9. Finally I’ll detail on some of the latest developments like live archive creation and multiple archive support.
After the talk, the audience should have a better understand of CDS/AppCDS and be able to decide whether it makes sense to use it for their own applications.

When a company creates a product/ software/ service it only takes into consideration the basic business principals of the industry which is good but not enough.
In this session we will discuss about the new generation of business application and how you incorporate in them those elements that make your business unique.

How can we actively shape the future state of our markets and fulfil unmet customer needs by using digital technology, channels and new business practices. Dive deeper in the magic of platform business, digital ecosystems and the next level of internet of things. Let’s be challenging: it is not about technology! It is about how it is changing the way we do things.
We will be discussing and framing the opportunity along 3 lines: create awareness, focus efforts and start acting. Based on our research on the fundamental shifts both in exponential technology and new business protocols and practices we will de showcasing what is driving change, how it manifest itself and why we need to unlearn in order to be able to learn again.
In that shift we see two phenomena surfacing: platforms and ecosystems and digital technology enables us to access assets in a way that provides unprecedented opportunities, if played well. IOT and connectivity in general enables us to connect to the end user, make them part of our creation and design process, access information to continuously improve products and services. But most digital channels and platforms are still based on push rather than pull. How can we make that shift and what can we do differently tomorrow by smartly applying digital technology in the context of your business.

“I believe that every business needs to be present online! A lot of people have the wrong idea that only e-commerce businesses need online marketing or SEO. People are searching for everything on the internet: even for a company’s solvency, not to mention the quality of the products, of the services or the consumer’s reviews on these. What do we precisely do at iAgency? We handle a business located “high on the Everest mountain” that is available only for a few people each year and we bring it in the center of the city, in the most crowded traffic. We make it visible for everyone!”
