When technology is no longer a differentiator on its own, user experience becomes the discipline that brings it together with business outcome to create the experiences customers, employees and partners expect. In the current wave of augmented intelligence, machines are helping us enhance and scale all of these experiences and companies delivering them on the right channel, at the right time, with the right message. Ben grew up in the small town of Morehead, Kentucky. Before starting at Cologne-based Eyeo GmbH in July of 2013, he worked at the German Embassy in Washington, DC; prior to that he worked mainly in non-profit organizations. Eyeo makes the world’s most popular browser extension, Adblock Plus, which has been downloaded over 500 million times and in late 2011 began its Acceptable Ads initiative to try and broker a compromise in the often contentious relationship between marketers and ad blockers. He has been instrumental in spreading that message to a larger audience since he began in 2013. Other than that, he collects records and cassettes, writes, reads and claims to occasionally exercise. Ben is 36 and lives in Bonn, Germany.
SPEAKERS SESSIONS
Six-hundred million. That's the number of people who block ads, and it is very big. But what overshadows even this huge sum is what it represents: perhaps the largest consumer revolt in the history of mankind. What other time have 600 million souls told a specific industry, "no, we don't accept your products anymore"?
I can't think of one. This phenomenon, which grew out of the hobby projects of a few open source developers, is a statement directly addressed to the online ads industry. That industry is now listening, with no less than the Interactive Advertising Bureau admitting that they, the body probably most tied to the development and fostering of online advertising, "messed up."
So what is the future of ad blocking? Growing? Booming? Sending a giant middle finger to the ads industry?
Nope. Not at all. In fact, ad blockers began compromising a few years back when the ad blocker I work for, Adblock Plus, began whitelisting better, less intrusive ads. Since then others have followed into an unknown territory in which the ad blockers are contributing not just to the history of ad blocking -- but to a new, better future for advertising, too.

As businesses mobilize workflows and transform through mobility, enterprises demand for mobile apps is growing exponentially. As a response to this rapid transformation from desktop to mobile and cloud first strategy, Java application leaders must create a portfolio of architectures, tools and development environment to meet the growing diversity in mobile platforms and use cases. Moreover, a mobile application strategy seeks to transform business using mobile applications to improve access to enterprise data, back-end and cloud services and streamline business processes for mobile use to stay agile and competitive. Therefor a reliable mobile development platform is foundational to the deployment of strategic and packaged applications.

Mr Pereda will explain and demonstrate how you -by leveraging your extensive Java skills and by programming in your own familiar IDE- can build one application using one cross-platform Java API and deploy to all platforms. Additionally learn how a cloud based clearinghouse can transparently connect your app with the enterprise back-end and let it at a glance profit from improved security and common mobile features such as notifications, authentication, data synchronization and persistency etc.
